Today, we find ourselves in Covington, Georgia, for a local bike fest in the charming town of Mystic Falls, or as it’s known in the real world, Covington. This event features a mix of activities, from bike shows to biker games, various vendors, and more. It’s a gathering of the community, and who knows, maybe a few vampires too. Alchemy, my 2014 Black Copper and Chrome Road King, has been my partner in crime for entering bike shows. Our adventure takes an unexpected turn as we come across the Mystic Grill. You may recognize it from The Vampire Diaries series and its spin-off shows. Covington served as the backdrop for these supernatural tales. Covington has also played host to the filming of other famous shows and movies, including Friday the 13th, The Dukes of Hazzard, Remember the Titans, Halloween, and, of course, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies. If you’re not into the Hollywood scene, feel free to skip ahead to the next bookmark in the video. But I couldn’t resist sharing this slice of Covington’s history. The Clocktower, prominently featured in all three shows, is a key piece of Mystic Falls’ identity, as are various locations around the town square and an alleyway now used as a museum and gift shop, which made appearances in at least one episode of The Originals. We also catch a glimpse of some biker games, which are always a crowd-pleaser. While I plan to make a video about traditional biker games in the future, today’s event features three: Dirty Laundry, Winnie Bite, and a Slow Race. There’s also mention of a game called “double helmet toss,” which is new to me. If you’re familiar with it, do share in the comments. Bike Show Awards are handed out, and the event turns into a heartfelt gathering. The money raised goes to a good cause, a touching tribute to someone who lost their battle with childhood cancer.
